In the last financial year, R221 million was spent on the township economy, but only 1,690 jobs were created. That’s R130,000 spent per job! This is not value for money—it’s a shocking mismanagement of public funds.

While initiatives like the Township Retail Programme and the Last Mile Delivery project are commendable, they’re just a drop in the ocean compared to what Gauteng’s township economy could achieve with competent leadership.

Gauteng deserves a government that respects public funds and invests effectively in empowering our communities.
